Cryptic Vision 2007
*Cryptic Vision - Sarasota - With the original Asia to kick off their US tour,
at the beautiful Van Wezel Hall
*Cal Prog Festival 2006 – Los Angeles – with other progressive bands Kino, Izz,
Rocket Scientists, Helmet of Gnats
*State Theater – St. Pete FL– with progressive metal bands Kamelot and Crimson
Glory
*Largo Cultural Center – Largo FL– with Swedish prog legends The Flower Kings
*Deland Original Music Showcase – Deland FL – with over 90 original acts on 19
stages. CV was awarded “CD of the year” by the Songwriters Showcase of America
for “In A World” before performing on the main stage.
*Ribfest
2006 – St. Pete – the annual 3-day festival that drew well over 100,000 fans and
featured Toto, Cheap Trick, The Guess Who, The Marshall Tucker Band, The Family
Stone, John Caffery and many more.
*Todd Plant's Classic Rock Experience
debuts at the grand opening of the Hard Rock Live arena in
Hollywood, FL July '05.
*Cryptic Vision –
Rites of Spring Festival '05 (ROSfest) near Philadelphia with several other prog
bands like Magenta, Sylvan, The Tangent, Man On Fire, Kino, Arena. Played
Pinellas Park’s BBQfest ’05 with Lou Gramm, Grand Funk, Night Ranger, War, CCR,
Pat Travers. Opened for Kansas at Jannus Landing '05.
* The Former Doobie Brothers/ The Chet McCracken Band - Todd’s first real
“national act” was often mis-billed as THE Doobie Brothers (yeah, they sued).
The band featured 3 former Doobies the late Dave Shogren, the late Cornelius Bumpus
(who was also with Steely Dan), and Chet McCracken (who also worked with Joe Walsh, Stevie
Nicks, Dave Mason, America, others), David Muse (Firefall/ Marshall Tucker) and
Chris Pinnick (Chicago, Peter Cetera, Herb Alpert). Debut show was headlining a
West VA festival that also featured Blue Oyster Cult, Jefferson Starship, and
Randy Bachman. The group played festivals all across the US like San Antonio’s
Starfest, Mardi Gras, Daytona Bike Week, Superbowl XXVI Superfest, St.
Petersburg’s Ribfest (est. 20 thousand fans) and Tampa’s Busch Gardens’ 4th of
July ’02 (3 nights, 5 to 10 thousand each). Shared the bill with many legends
like Humble Pie, Kansas, Iron Butterfly, Rare Earth, Black Oak Ark, Mitch Ryder
& the Detroit Wheels, Badfinger, Dickie Betts, War, Edgar Winter, Big Brother &
The Holding Co., KC & The Sunshine Band, Vanilla Fudge, Kool & the Gang, Mickey
Thomas’ Starship, and Chuck Negron’s 3 Dog Night (’99-’02).
* Supernatural - Santana tribute band played clubs and some festivals like
Tampa’s Gasparilla and Guavaween, St. Pete’s Ribfest (est. 30 thousand), and
concert venues like St. Pete’s Jannus Landing and Tampa’s Ice Palace. Shared the
bill with Aerosmith, Jefferson Starship, Mark Farner (Grand Funk), Cyndi Lauper,
Edgar Winter, Gregg Allman Band, Enuff ‘Z Nuff, Robin Zander (Cheap Trick),
Grand Funk (without Farner), and the REAL Doobie Brothers ’01-’02.
* Wingfest '99 - Coachman Park Clearwater FL - Plant played guitar and sang backup
in The Gentrys featuring Jimmy Hart (who was Andy Kaufman’s tag team partner and
Hulk Hogan’s mgr), opening for Peter Noone (Herman’s Hermits), Gary Puckett
(Union Gap), and The Buckinghams.
* TV Munchen - Millenium performed on a live, prime time entertainment show to
about 2 million viewers in Munich ’97.
* The Gods Festival ’97 - Millenium played in Wigan England with many Euro
bands, then went on a bus tour across Europe to play 4 dates in Germany.
* The Gods Festival ’95 - Eyewitness played at London’s historic Astoria II with
many European bands and was shown on MTV Europe’s Headbanger’s Ball.
* Florida Guitar Show - Eyewitness played at the gorgeous Kapok Tree that also
featured Al DiMeola, Albert Lee, Vinnie Moore, others ’94.
* Livestock IV - Eyewitness played the main stage opening for Steppenwolf,
Candlebox, Jackal, The Cry Of Love, others ’93.
* Eyewitness’ 3rd show - opened for Warrant at Tampa’s famous Rock-It Club ’92.
* First arena show: Christian rock band Zion opened for Stryper (5 thousand
fans) at the Fla. Fairgrounds Expo Hall ’85.
* First prison gig: Scymitar played Zephyrhills Correctional Inst. Where Plant
met “Murph The Surf” who stole the Star Of India and was the subject of the
movie of the same name starring Robert Conrad.
* First bar gig: played guitar at the grand opening of the Tampa’s infamous
gentleman’s club the Tanga Lounge ’78.
* First big gig: played clarinet marching with the Wilson Jr. High band in the
Gasparilla Night Parade ’72.
* First gig: played autoharp at Roosevelt Elementary School in Tampa - outdoor
concert ’68.
